Atlanta police are looking for an Uber Eats delivery driver accused of killing a customer on Saturday night after getting into an argument that led to gunfire.

CNN reports that the incident happened at The Concorde Condominium complex in Buckhead. According to authorities, 30-year-old male Ryan Thornton placed an order at around 11:30 p.m. As the driver was leaving, the pair exchanged harsh words that ended with the delivery driver firing shots at the customer.

“The victim went down to meet the driver, received his order and began walking away from the vehicle,” police said. “As the victim was walking away, it appears words may have been exchanged between he and the delivery driver. Shots were apparently fired from the delivery vehicle, striking the victim.”

The driver, who hasn’t been identified or arrested, fled the scene in a white Volkswagen Jetta. Thornton was rushed to Grady hospital, where he later died. NBC’s 11Alive reports that the victim, who had recently graduated Morehouse College with a degree in political science, was his mother’s only son, whose husband passed away three years earlier.

Uber Eats has a policy of no weapons allowed on the job, but it’s unclear if the company performs routine checks on its drivers to ensure they’re abiding by the rules.

“We are shocked and saddened by this news,” Uber Eats said in a statement after the shooting. “We are working with Atlanta Police, and our hearts go out to the families of those involved.”
