Woman throws newborn baby over fence, neighbor’s dogs find corpse with umbilical cord attached: Cops

A Colorado woman is accused of killing her newborn baby earlier this year.

According to People, 23-year-old Camille Wasinger-Konrad is facing two criminal counts of murder and one count of tampering with evidence.

A Douglas County Court source indicated she had not yet entered a plea as of the latest reports available.

In court this week, a detective involved in the case recalled a conversation he had with the defendant shortly after the young victim was found dead on the rear porch of a neighbor’s home.

The baby’s umbilical cord was reportedly still attached when the neighbors found the body near their hot tub. The family’s dogs made the initial discovery and were found sniffing around near the remains.

While Wasinger-Konrad allegedly denied knowing anything about the dead baby when Douglas County Detective Adam Moorman first questioned her, the story she told authorities reportedly changed from there.

He said she later admitted to giving birth to the baby, claiming it “just came out” after she woke up with stomach pains.

A number of her colleagues, however, disputed her story that she did not know about her pregnancy before that day, claiming she shared the news with them previously.

“I just got rid of it,” she reportedly told investigators when describing her reaction to the birth, according to Fox News.

Police say she later confessed to holding her hand over the newborn’s mouth in an attempt to quiet cries that might disturb her landlord’s family.

She allegedly admitted throwing the body over a fence and onto the neighboring property.
