Michelle Knight: Cleveland kidnapping, imprisonment survivor reveals she’s married on upcoming episode of ‘Dr. Phil’

Michelle Knight, the woman held captive for 11 years by Ariel Castro, has recently revealed that she’s married.

According to TMZ, Knight, who now goes by Lily Rose, made the revelation during an appearance on Dr. Phil that’s scheduled to air on April 24.

Knight explains that she’s been married to a man named Miguel since May 2015—about two years after she was rescued from the Cleveland home where she was imprisoned for more than a decade.

Ariel Castro separately kidnapped Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus during a two-year period starting in 2002 and repeatedly raped them. Berry birthed a daughter during her time in captivity.

The three women were rescued in May 2012 after neighbors spotted Berry frantically trying to escape from the Cleveland home. To avoid the death penalty, the ex-bus driver agreed in July 2013 to plead guilty to 937 counts, including aggravated murder, and was sentenced to life plus 1,000 years. Castro was facing capital punishment for ending his victims’ pregnancies.

Castro, 53, was found hanging in his cell in September 2013—a month after he began serving his millennia-long sentence. While initial reports suggested that Castro died of auto-erotic asphyxiation, officials ultimately determined that he committed suicide, adding that Castro’s body was found near handwritten notes that evoked scripture.

Today reported last year that Amanda Berry began hosting a news segment on WJW-TV dedicated to finding missing people. A follow-up published by People magazine last year suggested that DeJesus lives out of the public eye.
