Irate customer burns McDonald’s manager with hot coffee in dispute over 97 cents: Cops

The manager of a McDonald’s location in Lacey, Washington, was recently assaulted by a customer upset by the cost of a cup of coffee, according to police.

As reported by Fox News, the unidentified man entered the fast food restaurant early Friday morning and placed his order.

Lacey police indicated that the suspect soon became upset and threw the hot beverage in the manager’s face. The victim received burns on her neck, according to officials.

An investigation led authorities to believe the man was set off when the manager refused his request to refill a coffee cup after he poured the first cup into a travel mug.

The cost of the initial purchase was reportedly less than a dollar.

The McDonald’s employee reportedly asked the customer to leave, prompting the alleged attack.

Authorities had not yet identified a suspect as of the latest updates available but speculate that he “may be transient and have mental health issues.”

He is wanted on suspicion of simple assault.

As KIRO reported, local police issued a call for tips via social media this week.

“Do you know this guy?” the Lacey Police Department asked in a tweet on Friday morning. “He threw hot coffee in the employees face this morning.”
