Disney, Lego employees busted in child porn sting

Authorities in Florida nabbed 11 suspects in connection with a sting operation targeting child pornography possession and distribution.

According to WFTS, Polk County sheriff’s investigators dubbed the probe “Operation Guardians of Innocence II” and resulted in 660 felony charges as of initial reports.

A press release issued on Tuesday detailed each arrest, including that of a former costume manager for Disney World.

A Disney source confirmed in a statement to WFTS that the suspect was no longer employed by the theme park.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for 53-year-old Roger Catey’s home in Davenport after receiving a tip that child pornography had been downloaded to a computer at the residence.

“Detectives responded to the home and talked with Catey, who admitted that the computer equipment was his and that he has been viewing child pornography for approximately one year,” police said.

Authorities seized his computer equipment after reportedly identifying files depicting victims as young as 3 years old. He faces charges including 24 enhanced felony counts of possessing child pornography and two counts of promotion of a sexual performance by a child.

Sheriff Grady Judd advised that additional charges are likely in each of the cases.

“As you know, this is just the beginning — once we serve search warrants and seize the devices that these suspects are using to download and distribute pornography, we will do a complete forensic analysis, and in all likelihood we will be adding on more charges related to the felony possession and distribution of images and videos of children being sexually battered,” he said.

Judd said a majority of the recovered images “depicted children being sexually battered,” adding that the ongoing investigation will also seek to identify local victims.

In addition to Catey, the investigation resulted in the arrest of a Davenport man identified as a volunteer in his son’s Boy Scout troop. Edward Zaborowski III, 48, was reportedly employed as a bartender in Orlando. He was arrested on suspicion of 64 enhanced counts of child pornography possession and one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child.

Most of the suspects face dozens, if not hundreds, of criminal charges related to the operation.

The other suspects arrested in the sting included: Richard Cousins, 64, of Davenport; Bruce Nopper, 51, of Auburndale; Rickie Vargas-Garcia, 30, of Davenport; Don Carrier, 84, of Davenport; Mathew Sentz, 35, of Lakeland; Jarrod Whiting, 24, of Lakeland; Alejandro Baltazar II, 20, of Mulberry; Donald Marich, 69, of Lake Alfred; and a 16-year-old boy of Kissimmee.
