A Florida man accused of killing his pregnant wife kept her body for eight days before dumping her into a dumpster in an alley, police alleged.

Police said Cassandritz Blanc, 22, unsuccessfully attempted to dismember wife Martine Bernard, 20, after shooting her in the head Fort Lauderdale apartment on June 4. An arrest report said Blanc admitted to killing Bernard for disrespecting him, according to the Sun Sentinel.

Bernard’s body was discovered Tuesday in a trash bin located near the apartment she shared with Blanc. Police said she was six months pregnant when she died.

WTVJ reported that Blanc is also a suspect in the murder of his father-in-law, Roosevelt Bernard, 68, who was reported missing after he didn’t turn up for a family function. His body was found Monday on a lot in Hollywood, Florida.

Hollywood detectives investigating Roosevelt’s murder reported his daughter missing after they couldn’t contact her. Detectives surveilling Blanc Monday night reportedly caught him moving a trash bin to a dumpster behind his apartment building. After detaining Blanc, police claimed they inspected the bin and found Marine’s mutilated body, the news station wrote.

While the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office said the Bernards were shot, they declined to release their cause of death. Moreover, police haven’t revealed whether the same weapon was used to kill the pair, the Sun Sentinel reported.

Blanc is charged with premeditated murder and abusing a corpse. A judge denied bond during a Wednesday court hearing. Officials said additional charges are possibly forthcoming.
