High school track coach keeps thousands of child porn files on his cellphone: Cops

A high school track coach in Indiana is facing charges related to possession of child pornography after he was arrested last week.

According to WTHR, 39-year-old Jeremy Kelley is accused of possessing more than 16,000 images and hundreds of video files primarily consisting of child pornography downloaded to his cellphone.

U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana Josh Minkler issued a statement after Kelley’s arrest explaining the result of a search warrant served at the suspect’s home.

Authorities confirmed he had been employed as an assistant boys and girls track coach at a high school in Attica. It was unclear what his employment status was following his arrest.

The suspect was known to Montgomery County authorities after the sheriff’s office received a tip in January from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

“Protecting and advocating for our most vulnerable has always been a top priority of my office,” Minkler said. “Those who take advantage of this district’s children can expect the full hammer of federal prosecution.”

As of the latest reports available, Kelley was still in custody of the U.S. Marshal’s Service awaiting an initial court appearance in Indianapolis on Monday.

United States Attorney Tiffany J. Preston said he could face decades behind bars if convicted of criminal charges including sexual exploitation of a child, receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about the case or who thinks Kelley might have had inappropriate contact with any other minors is urged to contact the FBI by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI.
