URGENT: Police need public’s help after young girl disappears with 50-year-old transient

 

California authorities are searching for a 13-year-old girl who disappeared in the Van Nuys area on Saturday with an adult male transient.

ABC reports Maria Josefa Roman became friends with transient Michael Stewart, 50, who did tasks around her family home after she introduced him to her mother. According to authorities, Stewart and Maria left in her mother’s SUV at around 3 p.m. The SUV, a 1998 red Nissan Pathfinder with California license plate 8CHH187, was seen leaving the 16700 block of Archwood Street in Van Nuys.

Maria is described as Asian female with brown eyes and black hair. She stands 5-feet-3-inches tall and weighs around 90 pounds. She was last seen wearing black and white Adidas shoes, a a red striped shirt, and blue jeans.

Stewart is described as a Hispanic male with brown eyes and brown hair. He stands 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighs around 180 pounds, He was last seen wearing black and white shoes, grey pants, and a black shirt.

Anyone with information should contact the Los Angeles police at (818) 374-7730. Authorities are calling Maria’s “highly suspicious.”
