Mother allegedly put dead newborn in freezer, sent photos of baby’s body to friends

A Georgia woman was arrested for allegedly putting her dead newborn baby boy in a freezer, where he stayed for several weeks before he was found.

Carol June Sautter, 45, is believed to have given birth to a full-term baby sometime between June 7 and 11—though it’s unclear whether it was a live birth. Officers made the startling discovery on June 25, after Sautter told her ex-boyfriend about the dead baby and he called police, according to The Atlanta Journal-Consitution.

A warrant obtained by WXIA alleged that Sautter sent text messages to friends referencing the baby’s death—some which included pictures showing the newborn with his umbilical cord attached.

Sautter reportedly advised responding officers to not look in her freezer before admitting that she discarded her baby’s body in there.

Sautter is charged with concealing and is being held without bond. It’s not immediately known whether the ex-boyfriend was the father of Sautter’s child. An autopsy report is pending.
