Dad says he stabbed infant son to death & threw him in trash after finding ‘666’ written on him: Report

Police arrested a Utah father early Sunday in connection with the fatal stabbing of his 10-month-old son whom he allegedly stuffed into a trash bag before fleeing their Odgen home.

According to KSL, Alex Hidalgo, 37, was booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated murder, obstruction of justice and abuse or desecration of a dead human body charges in connection with the death of his son, Alex Hidalgo Jr. A medical examiner said the infant sustained three stab wounds to the neck.

Documents obtained by KUCW and KTVX stated that the father was watching his son Friday as the baby’s mother ran errands. When she returned, she reportedly discovered him reading the Bible and watching a religious video.

After asking where her son was, the father allegedly admitted to killing the baby after building an altar and spotting “666” on him. The baby’s mom found her son’s body in a garbage bag located in a closet, prompting her to run out of the home and get help, according to police.

A neighbor and the mother reportedly performed CPR on the lifeless 10-month-old until he was transported to the hospital. The father was unaccounted for until Saturday night, when police said they found him at a nearby abandoned home. KSL reported that he had blood on his clothes, hands, and arms in addition to a cut on his wrist at the time.

Alarmingly, court documents obtained by the news station indicated the Ohio father has a lengthy criminal history which dates back to 1999. His rap sheet included a 2003 child sexual assault case that was ultimately dismissed. The Deseret News reported that his most recent arrest was in April for DUI.
