A one-time mixed martial arts fighter with a winning professional record is now facing charges including attempted homicide following what authorities in Florida described as a stabbing that left a victim hospitalized.

According to WFOR, 29-year-old Danny Lynn Tims III was arrested near the scene of the incident on Saturday.

Authorities were called to the Jupiter Cove apartment complex at about 5 p.m. in response to a reported stabbing.

The residence is located on Thelma Avenue near Indiantown Road in Jupiter, according to police.

Additional details about the crime or the suspect’s possible motive were scarce in initial police reports.

Authorities indicate Tims was apprehended near the scene a short time later and transported to jail.

He is expected to face charges including attempted homicide, aggravated battery, vehicle theft and robbery.

According to the Palm Beach Post, a judged ordered him to be held behind bars with bond set at $653,000.

A Jupiter Police Department spokeswoman told local reporters that the stabbing victim was transported to nearby St. Mary’s Medical Center where he was still listed in critical condition as of the last updates available.

Tims’ MMA career, which was based in the Kansas City, Missouri, area, reportedly ended three years ago.
