‘They picked the wrong house’: Two brothers fatally stab & beat burglar who broke into their home, cops say

Two brothers in Queens, New York, reportedly killed a burglar who broke into their home early Monday by beating him with a baseball bat and stabbing him to death.

According to the New York Post, the 26-year-old suspect initially attempted to break into the Williamson Avenue home by knocking on the door and pushing past the 16-year-old boy who answered. However, police said the teen managed to push the suspect out of the home and call 911.

Authorities told the newspaper that, moments later, the burglar kicked in the door and reentered the home. This time, the teen—along with his 27-year-old brother—reportedly met him with a bat and a knife, which they used to beat and stab him. Sources revealed to WPIX that the altercation spilled onto the street.

Police said the suspect sustained head trauma and a stab wound to the torso and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The New York Daily News reported that the Queens brothers are being questioned and it’s currently unclear whether they’ll be criminally charged. It’s also unknown what role each brother played in the fatal attack.

A family friend revealed to the Daily News that the older brother suffers from insomnia and is usually up late at night.

“He’s always up,” she said. “They picked the wrong house.”
