A youth pastor accused of sexually assaulting children over a span of 18 years was arrested in California on Friday, according to authorities.
ABC7 reports that acting on a report obtained regarding a local children’s pastor, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department sent officers to investigate 45-year-old Malo “Victor” Monteiro, of Colton, after being alerted to possible lewd acts with children. Authorities determined after an exhaustive investigation that Monteiro had been accused of molesting children previously, over a time span from 1999 to 2017.
Although the sheriff’s department spelled the suspect’s last name as “Montiero,” jail records have his last name listed as “Monteiro.” According to a Facebook account, his name is listed as “Monteiro.”
Jail records also indicate that he’s behind bars on a $250,000. According to The Press Enterprise, the suspect could face charges of lewd and lascivious acts on a child, mayhem or sodomy, intent to rape, and sexual penetration by force.
