Jacksonville gunman was fellow gamer who killed himself after targeting ‘a few people’ at Madden 19 tournament: Witness

As details continue to surface out of the deadly mass shooting at a Florida video gaming tournament, at least one witness has identified the shooter as a losing participant in the ongoing event.

CrimeOnline previously reported that a suspect was dead after the incident that reportedly left four victims dead and even more with injuries.

The shooting occurred Sunday at the Jacksonville Landing. According to competitor Steven “Steveyj” Javaruski, the gunman had been competing in the tournament before he was eliminated.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Javaruski said he witnessed the carnage.

He told reporters that it appeared the shooter “targeted a few people,” killing two or three that Javaruski said he witnessed being killed.

The shooter then turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger, the witness said.

Other participants provided updates, including gamer Drini Gjoka who wrote that he considered himself “so lucky” that he was only grazed when bullets began flying.

He wrote that the bullet struck him in the thumb, going on to tweet that the shooting made Sunday the “worst day” of his life.
