Police intervene amid heated Robin Thicke and Paula Patton custody battle

Thicke allegedly “punches him (son, Julian) so hard, but never where someone can see.”

The custody battle between singer Robin Thicke and his ex-wife, Paula Patton, seems to be getting uglier after Thicke was recently accused of child abuse. On Friday, police were called out to Patton’s Calabassas, California, home, after their young son wasn’t as school.

People reports that a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Lost Hills station spokesperson confirmed that police were called to Patton’s house on Friday after the couple’s son, Julian, 6, didn’t arrive to school. The boy had already missed visitation with Thicke the evening prior, prompting Thicke to call authorities for assistance. Police called the incident a “a non-event” regarding Julian not wanting to visit one of his parents.

According to Thicke’s attorney, Angela Pierce di Donato, Patton violated custody orders by sending someone to Julian’s school to pick him up early, blocking Thicke from picking up his son after school.

“Paula sent someone to school to intercept Julian, in violation of the custody orders. She did not return him to school today.”

Pierce di Donato also touched on recent allegations that Thicke abused Julian. Earlier this week, Patton told a judge that Thicke abused Julian with excessive spanking, something the lawyer said is simply not true.

“Julian only shows any evidence of emotional harm when questioned by Paula or in her presence.”

Sources for Patton, however, disagree. Julian reportedly doesn’t feel safe around his father and doesn’t want to visit him.

Julian has made it clear he does not feel safe in his father’s presence, a fact confirmed today by the Malibu Sheriff’s Department determination — with Mr. Thicke present — that the child needed to remain with his mother,” a disclosed source told People

Further, a school counselor wrote that Julian told her that Thicke, “punches him so hard, but never where someone can see.”

Thicke adamantly denies all allegations of abuse, insisting that he “never exceeded age-appropriate discipline.” Regardless, it appears that Patton isn’t taking any chances. Whether Julian was coaxed into claiming his father abused him remains to be seen. Pierce di Donato asserted that the accusations began shortly after Patton was denied entrance to Alan Thicke’s funeral, Robin Thicke’s famous actor father who passed away last month.

“We believe that Paula was angry that she was excluded from Alan’s funeral last month. A week later she refused to allow Julian to open presents with Robin on Christmas morning. Days later, a referral was called into the child abuse hotline.”

Patton’s recent request for supervised visits between Thicke and Julian was denied.
