A bizarre and tragic story is unfolding in Keizer, Oregon, after a 12-year-old boy was found dead in the apartment he shared with his mother, who has been arrested and charged with his murder.
Neighbors at Riverwood Apartments were concerned when Amy M. Robertson, 38, appeared the apartment complex’s courtyard on Sunday, appearing agitated and acting very strangely.
“His mom just came out here yelling,” one neighbor told the KOIN 6 news station. Robertson was reportedly shouting something about demons when the neighbor approached her.
“I went out there and told her to calm down. She said, ‘OK,’” the neighbor told KOIN 6 News. “I said, ‘Where’s your son?’ She said, ‘In the house under the blanket.’ So I went into his room. He wasn’t in there.”
“There was a recliner tipped over and he was halfway on it under a blanket,” she said. “I pulled the blanket back and I could tell he was gone,” explaining that he was cold and not breathing.

Authorities were called to the apartment complex where 12-year-old Caden Berry was confirmed dead. Authorities told KOIN 6 that his mother was cooperative.
One of Caden’s friends told KOIN that Caden’s demeanor had changed suddenly and dramatically just before his death.
He just wasn’t acting right,” the friend said. “He was, like, always happy and he was never really, like, sad. Until yesterday. He looked really sad and he was, like, a really close friend.”
Robertson is facing an aggravated murder charge and will appear in court on Tuesday. The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.
