Civilian searchers have found the body of a two-year-old boy who went missing near his home on Saturday afternoon.
The Clark County Sheriff’s office said in a news release Sunday that the body of William G. Roberts had been found not far from his home and the location where he had been last seen. Police had suspended the official search on Saturday evening as darkness fell, with plans to resume Sunday morning, but volunteer searchers, including Roberts’ family, pressed on, despite a warning Saturday from the sheriff’s office that the terrain may be dangerous. It was a group of volunteers who found the 2-year-old’s body. The condition of the body or the exact circumstances of the discovery have not yet been disclosed.
Roberts had been reportedly been playing near a creek under the supervision of a parent when the toddler suddenly vanished. Police were immediately notified, and multiple agencies joined in the frantic search for the boy, which included a dive team search of the creek.
The Clark County Sheriff’s said on Sunday that foul play is not suspected.
