Former star of The O.C. Mischa Barton has been hospitalized after police responded to a disturbance call at her Los Angeles-area home.
TMZ and E! News report that police were called to Barton’s West Hollywood home Thursday after neighbors witnessed disturbing behavior. The 31-year-old actress was reportedly in her backyard, wearing nothing but a men’s dress shirt and tie, hanging over a fence and shouting incoherently. According to TMZ, Barton was “rambling” about her mother being a witch and the world shattering. She reportedly said,”Oh my God, it’s over! I feel it, and it’s angry!”
Barton was voluntarily transported to a Los Angeles-area hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
A West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputy told E! News that Barton “was making incoherent statements that made absolutely no sense and she was transported to the hospital.”
Barton was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold in 2009 when her parents tried to stage an intervention after the actress blacked out from taking a sedative. Barton reportedly threatened to take her own life at the time, and has since spoken about the incident, describing it to People magazine as a “full-on breakdown.”
Barton’s representative did not respond to requests from TMZ or E! News for comment.
