A Tallahassee man threatened to kill a church pastor after finding him in bed with his wife.
Rev. O. Jermaine Simmons was forced to quickly flee the home of a woman in his congregation after her husband came home unexpectedly early — and discovered the pastor and his wife in his daughter’s bedroom. The man had picked up the couple’s six-year-old son from school early after getting a call that he was sick. The school had also tried to call the boy’s mother, but she was busy.
According to the Tallahassee Democrat, there was a gun in the home at the time and the angry husband threatened to retrieve it, shouting “I’m gonna kill him!” The man’s wife then called the police, and Simmons ran outside without any clothes on and without his personal possessions. The husband took Simmons’ possessions and threatened to expose him by bringing them to the Jacob Chapel where he works and posting about the incident on Facebook, but ultimately changed his mind. No one pressed charges.
But the story has gotten the popular pastor, who is married with children, a lot of unwanted attention, and he spoke to his congregation about it on January 22.
“I’m hurting because I’ve hurt you,” Simmons said in the sermon. “I can’t speak to people on the outside. I am not Tallahassee’s pastor. I am not Florida’s pastor. I am Jacob Chapel’s pastor. It hurts me that you have to defend my actions. You cannot defend sin.”
What I want from God, I have already received – that’s his forgiveness, ” Simmons continued. “What I am asking of our members is your prayers and your forgiveness.”
