Married anatomy teacher in Kentucky jail for sex with boy student

The teacher confessed to having sex with the student in a state park

A 25-year-old high school teacher accused of seducing a teenage student is facing prison time.

Brandi Lynn Vaughn, formerly a biology and anatomy/physiology teacher at Madison Southern High School in Kentucky, pled guilty to the felony count of using an electronic device to induce a minor to engage in sexual activities. In exchange for her guilty plea, prosecutors reportedly dropped five additional Class D felony charges: two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of third-degree sodomy, one count of third-degree rape, and one count of evidence tampering.

According to the Richmond Register, after her August 2015 arrest, Vaughn confessed to having two sexual encounters with a male student, then 16, that summer: One at a state park and one at her home, where she lived with her then-husband.

On Friday, Vaughn was sentenced to one year in prison, the minimum sentence for the Class D felony she confessed to, which carries up to five years in prison. Though Vaughn appears to have convinced the sentencing judge that she is remorseful for her actions,  Madison Circuit Judge William G. Clouse reportedly told her that he needed send a message to her and the community that such behavior is intolerable.

Vaughn will be required to serve at least 20 percent of her sentence before being considered for parole, and will be placed on the sex offender registry after her release.
