Inside the abusive relationship between slain daughters and killer father, Yaser Abdel Said

It’s been nine years since Yaser Abdel Said escaped the hands of law enforcement after killing his two daughters inside a cab in Irving, Texas, in 2008. Until now, there wasn’t a lot of footage of what went on behind the scenes in the family home. A recently-released video, aired on Crime Watch, sheds some insight in what friends and family have said all along about Said’s abusive nature.

The Dallas Morning News reports that footage, apparently filmed by Said, shows him making inappropriate comments to his teen daughters while they were in their shared bedroom.

“Sarah sleeps with her pants? Mmm, very nice….Wow, look at those eyes. I got my eye on you.”

Other clips show Said filming the girls from inside a home window as they walked outside.

Sarah Said, 17, and Amina Said, 18, were typical American girls. They loved music, sports, and school. Both had high academic ambitions, and like most teenagers, were interested in dating. Their father, however, had different plans. He had already arranged for Amina to marry a much older Egyptian man in the form of an arranged wedding, something the teen strongly objected to. She had her own boyfriend, Joseph Moreno, and planned to run away with him, that is until she was lured back home by her own mother, Patricia Owens.

According to friends and family, Yaser Said threatened to kill the girls after he found out about Amina’s relationship. The girls and Owens fled to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Owens returned home shortly after, and eventually talked to the girls into returning home. It turned out to be a fatal mistake. On New Yeas, 2008, Said allegedly shot both girls while they sat in the back of a taxi cab he rented.

Yaser Said is on the FBI’s Most Wanted Fugitive List. He has strong ties to Egypt and Canada, as well as several states in the U.S., including Texas, Virginia, and New York. He stands 6-feet-2 inches tall, has black and grey hair with a receding hairline, and brown eyes. He weighs around 180 pounds and has a brown spot on the left side of his neck. He drove taxi cabs for living and may possibly still be in the business.

A reward of up to $100,000 is currently being offered for information that leads to Said’s capture and arrest.
