Houston mom found shot to death in home

Her husband is the primary suspect

A Houston mother of three was found dead in her townhome on Thursday night, and authorities are searching for information that will lead to the suspect.

ABC 13 reports that Rena Hodges, a 35-year-old gospel singer, was found inside her home off of Sunset Meadow Lane, dead in her upstairs bedroom. Her three daughters, ages 14, 10 and 9, were not at home when the murder occurred.

Police are zeroing in on Hodges’ ex-husband, 40-year-old Jerald Dewayne Watt. He’s currently wanted for Hodges’ murder and as of Friday morning, he’s still on the loose.

He was last seen driving a blue 2002 Ford Explorer with Texas license plate number, FJW-9847. He could also be driving a 2010 white Nissan Versa with Texas license plate number, 8KMWV.

Hodges’ niece, Imani Ross, was taken aback and shocked at the untimely time. Ross stated the chruch-going mom was bubbly, friendly, and not know to have enemies.

“Pretty fun, loving….You couldn’t hate her. That’s why I’m not understanding what’s going on.”

Hodges’ was apparently planning on leaving Watt, according to her niece, Ariel Thomas. However, police haven’t confirmed a motive yet.
