BOLO: Nationwide manhunt for Mississippi man accused of killing girlfriend, shooting random jogger

Authorities are looking for a 28-year-old man accused of shooting his girlfriend to death in Rankin County, Mississippi, and shooting a random jogger before fleeing the area.

Sun Herald reports that the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office are searching for Alex Bridges Deaton. He was last seen driving an SUV, likely his girlfriend’s stolen white 2012 GMC Acadia.

At around 5 a.m. on Friday, a female called 911 and said she’d been shot in the thigh by a man in a “small SUV.” She was jogging in the Castlewoods Boulevard area when the incident occurred. Later on Friday, at 4:20 p.m., deputies showed up to a welfare residence check at the Vineyards Apartments off of Vine Drive, an area close to where the female jogger was shot.

Once inside the apartment, a Rankin County deputy found Heather Robinson, 30, dead. The deputy noted that her Acadia SUV was missing. According to the MBI, Deaton was Robinson’s boyfriend.

Detectives think that Deaton shot Robinson, then shot the female jogger before fleeing. He’s described as  5 feet 9 inches, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He weighs around 170 pounds. Deaton may still be driving the white Acadia; its license plate number reads F396 NF.

Do not approach Deaton if you spot him. He’s considered armed and extremely dangerous. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts should call Rankin County Sheriff’s Department at 601-825-1480 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477. You can also call 911. A $2,500 reward is currently being offered for information that leads to his arrest.
