Police: Missing Maryland woman related to teen found dead in Virginia

Montgomery County Police from the 6th District Investigative Section are reaching out to the public for clues in locating a missing 18-year-old Gaithersburg, Maryland, woman.

Angelica Ivania Barahona-Rivas was last seen at her place of employment, the Wok Express, located at 9615 Lost Knife Road, Gaithersburg, on Saturday night at around 9:00 p.m. She is believed to have left work about that time, although she was scheduled to work until closing that evening.

Her family and friends have been trying to contact her and called police after their attempts to reach her failed. In early reporting on the case, investigators believe there is some indication that Barahona-Rivas may be in the New Jersey area.

Montgomery County police said the 18-year-old  is the cousin of 15-year-old Alexandra Reyes, a young woman who was found dead in Springfield, Virginia, earlier this month. Ten other people have already been arrested in connection with her death. Gaithersberg ABC7 reports that this may be a gang-related killing.

The 18-year-old Barahona-Rivas is described as five foot three inches tall, and weighing 150 pounds.  When she left work on Saturday, she was wearing a tan shirt, tan skirt, a gray jacket, black boots, and carrying a pink purse.
