Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies originally identified Tad Cummins on surveillance camera, at a gas station in Collierville, Tennessee, according to Action News 5.
At around 12:30 p.m., someone reportedly spotted Cummins at the Shell gas station at 398 New Byhalia Road. After detectives reviewed the surveillance footage, they believed it was indeed Tad, but the former teacher had already left. However, witnesses claimed both Cummins and Elizabeth Thomas, 15, were in a white van with a ladder attached, at the Krystal restaurant on Union Avenue, at around 3 p.m..
The pair reportedly abandoned the van at Krystal and went aboard a MATA bus.
Memphis police are currently at the main MATA terminal.
