According to NBC 5, a Dallas Fire-Rescue paramedic is in critical condition after being shot in front of a home in East Dallas. The paramedic is believed to have been responding to an emergency call at the time.
The 911 call was reportedly made by a woman who arrived home to find the suspect on the ground with a rifle. NBC 5 reports that the woman is believed to be the suspect’s girlfriend or wife.
It remains unclear if the paramedics had been targeted by the suspect. The suspect reportedly escaped with his rifle shortly after the firefighter EMT was shot, and before police were able to apprehend him.
A neighbor near the home was also shot and NBC 5 reports that victim is in stable condition.
The gunman is presumed to be at large, and police have reportedly described the area as “active and very dangerous.”
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
