Two women were found dead in an Atlanta-area apartment on Thursday night in what appears on surface to be a drug overdose. Police are currently investigating the deaths to determine exactly what happened.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that popular model, Summer Moss, and her friend, Kathleen Green, were found dead in a Buckhead apartment off of Summit North Drive, at around 9 p.m. on Thursday. Green’s roommate, Lucille Neilson, found the women and called 911. Neilson reported that she thought the pair overdosed on drugs.
When police arrived, they found Moss’ left leg lifted up and propped against the frame of her bathroom door. Authorities wrote that she had a purple straw and a “powdery” substance in her right hand. Green’s lifeless body was lying on the floor under a blanket, about six feet away from Moss.

According to Neilson, both women had issues with drug abuse; it had gotten so bad that Neilson asked Moss to move out. Moss’ former boyfriend, Rod Koch, told police he saw Moss sleeping in her bed at around 4:30 p.m. on the day she was found dead. Koch confirmed that Moss used drugs.
Authorities found a white powdery substance wrapped up in two clear, plastic bags on the bathroom counter, a pink container with blue pills, and a green substance wrapped in plastic that was likely marijuana.

Chucky Kahng, a professional photographer and close friend of Moss, told WSB-TV that although he didn’t know Green well, he heard that both women were into drugs. Regardless, he said he was having a difficult time dealing with the fact that Moss is gone.
“When you hear about someone like that passing it really does come as a shock. It makes it harder to believe that they’re not here anymore.”
Authorities are still investigating, trying to determine if the women’s deaths were caused by a drug overdose or foul play. Atlanta police declined to comment on the case, but they did state that there is an open investigation.
Meanwhile, friends set up a YouCaring campaign for Moss, to help with funeral and burial expenses. The crowdfunding campaign has already reached over $6,800.
“Summer Michelle Moss was a beautiful and vibrant young woman who was loved by many. Regretfully, she was taken from us too soon and passed away on April 27th, 2017. Please pray for her family and loved ones during this difficult time including her mother, Tina Kennedy, her brother, Rick Moss, and her sister, Kristen Kennedy.”
