An explosive new report on the disappearance of Maddie McCann — 10 years ago this week — describes the scene outside the family’s vacation apartment in Portugal as the three-year-old girl’s parents first discovered her gone.
A British couple who were renting an apartment two floors directly above where Maddie McCann was last seen told the Sun that a friend of Kate and Gerry McCann’s woke them from their sleep to let them know the little girl was missing and to ask for their help.
Paul Moyes told the Sun that he and his wife Susan witnessed Kate and Gerry McCann in hysterics as they reacted to Maddie’s disappearance.
“The McCanns were in bits, he was crying on the shoulder of a friend,” Paul said, adding:
She was screaming ‘the f***ing b******s have taken her.’

The curious comment comes shortly after another witness at the Praia da Luz resort told the newspaper that she had seen a woman near the McCann’s apartment acting suspiciously before Maddie vanished.
“It was the middle of the evening and I saw the woman standing on the corner of the street just watching intently,” the woman told the Sun:
I don’t know who she was but she caught my eye because she was dressed in purple-plum clothes. It struck me as strange because it’s so unusual for anyone, particularly a woman, to be standing alone on the street in our resort, just watching a building …The next morning we heard that a little girl had gone missing and I later told police about the woman I’d seen right outside.
Kate and Gerry McCann have insisted for a decade that they believe their daughter was abducted and maintain that they had nothing to do with her disappearance, despite briefly being named as suspects by Portuguese authorities.
Last week, the Mirror published 49 questions investigators reportedly asked Kate McCann during an 11-hour interrogation. She refused to answer 48 of them. Among those questions were five questions about her work as a physician, asking her about her specialty, whether she had ever worked in emergency services, and why she stopped working for a period.
British investigators continue to investigate Maddie’s disappearance.
