Jodie Sweetin: Ex-fiancé gets four months in jail, six years in suspended prison sentence

Jodie Sweetin‘s ex-fiancé Justin Hodak may be spending a little over six years in prison if he continues to break laws as he’s done numerous times before.

Huff Post reports that Greg Risling, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office (DA), confirmed hat Hodak pleaded “no contest” to one count of possession of an assault weapon and one count of intimidation of a witness, while in a Van Nuys courthouse on Friday.

Immediately upon being found guilty, a judge sentenced Hodak to 120 days in jail, 52 weeks of diversion classes, 60 days of monitoring via an electronic ankle bracelet, and five years of supervised probation. If he fails to comply with any part of these terms, he’ll be sent to prison for six years and eight months.

The Backstory

In March, Fuller House star Jodie Sweetin filed for and was granted a temporary restraining order against Hodak. She said her former fiancé had threatened her and himself while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and she long felt safe around him.

The restraining required Hodak to stay at least 100 yards away from Sweetin, which included her home, workplace, car, and her kids’ school. Within days, however, Hodak was arrested for driving by Sweetin’s Los Angeles home.

Trouble continued to follow Hodak as he was arrested two additional times in March for similar infractions.

“[Hodak] came back over to the residence which he was restrained from, and officers made contact, and he was arrested for violating a court order,” an LAPD spokesperson told US Weekly.

Sweetin and Hodak announced their engagement in January 2016 after the pair had been dating for two years. Within a little over a year from the date of their engagement, Sweetin announced that the marriage was being called off.

A few weeks after publicly calling it quits with Hodak, Jodie Sweetin took to social media to thank her fans for all of their support.

“Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out over the past two weeks. It’s definitely been a roller coaster, but with amazing family, friends and fans, I’ll be just fine!”
