A man set out to bird watch on Sunday afternoon in New York City, and ended up spotting a woman’s dead body instead.
New York Post reports that the bird watcher was walking in a wooded area of Alley Pond Park, close to 76th Avenue and Cloverdale Road when he noticed a strange smell in the area. As he looked closer, he saw a man’s corpse, fully clothed, lying face down. He immediately phoned police.

According to authorities, the dead man had no identification on him, but he appeared to be in his 20s. The body was so deteriorated that police initially thought the body was a female’s. There were no immediate signs of any trauma but a medical examiner will conduct a thorough autopsy.
Alley Pond Park is considered a safe area to several people who live in the area, including registered nurse, Ji Hee Kim, who said she walks the trails at the park every morning.
“We walk around a lot here early in the morning. Now I’m scared to walk around.”
The park encompasses 665 acres and is the second largest park in Queens.
So far the identity of the victim is still unclear. The story is still developing. Check back with Crime Online as additional information surfaces.
