‘The Son’ actress found dead at 31

Former Texas beauty queen Margaret Ann Garza was found dead under mysterious circumstance on Tuesday.

According to the Laredo Morning Times, police responded early Tuesday morning to a report of a “female not breathing” at the 31-year-old’s residence in Round Rock, Texas.  Paramedics were also reported at the scene.  An autopsy is pending, and the death is currently under investigation.

Originally from Laredo, Garza was the only child of Fred and Carmen Garza.  She was a former pageant winner, holding the titles of Ms. Texas Belleza Latina 2007 and Ms. Belleza Latina International 2008.   She remained active on the pageant circuit, serving as both a judge and host in recent years.   An actress, model and singer, Garza recently appeared on the AMC television show The Son, and also worked in films such as Mercury Plains, Snatch ‘n’ Grab and the short Blackout, according to IMDb.

She also appears in the movie Pizza Joint, due to be released in June.  Her obituary noted that Garza was a graduate of Texas A&M International University who “dared to dream big.”

News of Garza’s death spread quickly through social media.  A 2016 interview with Garza posted by Ryan Bazan on YouTube had generated over 22,000 views by Friday morning.

Raul Reyes, Mayor of El Cenizo and a close friend of Garza’s, said “any person who crossed paths with Margaret knew she was a charismatic individual who had this aura surrounding her with so much positivity.”

Services for Garza are scheduled for June 2, with a funeral mass on June 3 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laredo.
