Congressman’s son witnessed Arlington baseball field shooting, hid behind an SUV

A 10-year-old boy was among the witnesses of Wednesday morning’s shooting attack on a congressional baseball team practice in Arlington, Virginia.

According to CBS News, the young son of the baseball team captain Rep. Joe Barton was at the baseball field when James T. Hodgkinson opened fire Wednesday morning, injuring House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and four others.

“There were dozens if not hundreds of shots fired. It was scary,” Barton told the news station.

“Some of us were in the dugout. Some of us were on the ground. I was behind the dugout. My son Jack got under an SUV. He was very brave. My other son.. was in the batting cage and he also was brave,” Barton said.

The boy escaped unharmed, though likely shaken.
