Capital murder charges for suspect who stabbed 4-year-old daughter to death in an ‘angry rage’

A Texas woman who reportedly stabbed her 4-year-old daughter on Sunday is being charged with capital murder.

HCSO reports that Laquita Lewis, 34, was arrested in Northwest Houston on Sunday night, after police found her daughter’s lifeless body inside an apartment at the Timberwalk Apartments. Authorities think that the little girl, identified as Fredricka Allen, had been dead around three hours before they arrived.

A few hours before police found the victim, Lewis was in a car accident. While in a local hospital, she reportedly sent text messages to family members, indicating that she harmed her daughter, which led officers from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to the apartment.

Officers who found the little girl described the scene as “horrific.” The scene was so hideous that a chaplain arrived to console family members and police officers.

Although a motive hasn’t been released, authorities feel that Lewis killed her daughter in an “angry rage.” She argued with boyfriend shortly before the incident.

According to officers, Lewis’ name was not listed on the lease at the upscale apartment community. Her name was on a lease, however, at an apartment complex around 10 minutes away from Timberwalk Apartments.

Lewis was arrested without incident. She’s being held at the Harris County jail and has a hearing on Monday morning. If convicted, she could face the death penalty.
