Chester Bennington, the lead singer for the band Linkin Park, is dead of suicide.
TMZ reports that Bennington, 41, was found dead by hanging Thursday morning at his Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County.
Bennington had previously spoken about having suicidal thoughts, due to the trauma of being abused a child. He was open about his struggles with substance abuse.
Bennington leaves a wife and six children, from his current marriage and his previous marriage.
He was also good friends with Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who died of suicide by hanging in May.
Bennington wrote an open letter to Cornell after learning of his sudden, very unexpected death.
