‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ star arrested for assault, cocaine possession

Tom Wopat (right), known for his role as Luke Duke on the classic hit TV show, The Dukes of Hazzard, was arrested on Wednesday for assault and cocaine possession.

TMZ reports that Wopat was arrested in Waltham, Massachusetts, close to Boston, where he was starring in a production of the play, “42nd Street.” At around 10:53 p.m., police arrived at Wopat’s home and arrested him for assault. Authorities were looking for him after they received a phone call from a woman “connected to the production,” who claimed that the actor assaulted her.

While searching his vehicle, a Ford Bronco, police found a small amount of cocaine, and subsequently booked Wopat on a felony indecent assault charge and a misdemeanor drug possession charge.

The production company said that the show’s opening night on Thursday would go on without Wopat should he not be available.

According to the The Middlesex district attorney’s office, Wopat is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday.
