Florida police have arrested a teenager and accused him of raping a 10-year-old boy, as reported by PalmBeachPost.
Courtney Bonner, 17, has been charged with sexual battery of a child and lewd and lascivious molestation, police records indicate.
The victim’s mother, whose name has not been released, actually confronted Bonner about the alleged rape after hearing a rumor that the teenager had molested a neighborhood child. That child turned out to be her own son, she learned, when he admitted to committing the brutal acts, according to Sun Sentinel.
Investigators interviewed the boy’s mother at Bethesda Memorial Hospital, where a forensic exam of the boy by the Child Protection Team tested positive for sexual abuse, as reported by WPTV. In addition to admitting his crimes to the child’s mother, he also confessed to police, authorities have noted.
Delray Beach police allege that Bonner raped the child in a bedroom closet and he is also alleged to have inappropriately touched the child at least one other time. The investigation as to the extent of the abuse is ongoing.
The 17-year-old is being tried as an adult and, though arrested on July 20 and placed in the Juvenile Assessment Center, was moved this week to the Palm Beach County Jail.
A judge ordered Bonner be held in the county jail without bond and that he have no contact with anyone under the age of 18. He will soon be evaluated by doctors for mental health and physical conditions in the medical unit of the jail.
