MISSING! NYC-based talent agent vanishes near his home, police call the situation ‘very strange’

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding an Oradell, New Jersey, father who disappeared Sunday afternoon, as reported by River Dell Patch.

Oradell Police Lieutenant Victor Egg said Mark Schlegel, 57, was last seen leaving his home Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Police are said to have searched the surrounding woods until 8 p.m. Tuesday with no success. They are also said to have canvassed the neighborhood, marking this as a curious disappearance in the eyes of law enforcement.

“It’s just so very strange, he just walked away from his house. It’s very odd. We’re hoping for the best,” Lieutenant Egg told NJ.com.

Lieutenant Egg also revealed that Schlegel is married with two adult children. The 57-year-old has worked for CornerStone Talent Agency in Manhattan since 2002, according to Deadline.

Detective Mark Fedorchak revealed to the Paramus Daily Voice that this particular situation is serious as Schlegel hasn’t disappeared in the past and has no documented health issues.

“He doesn’t have the kind of history that you’d usually find in these cases,” Detective Fedorchak told the local paper. “That’s the problem.”

“That’s why we’re concerned,” he continued.

Schlegel is described as 5-feet, 10-inches, 165 pounds, with blue eyes and gray hair. Detective Fedorchak said he was last seen wearing a white collared shirt, light-colored shorts, and boat shoes. WCBS noted that he was seen carrying a small gift bag when he disappeared.

Anyone with information about Schlegel’s whereabouts is instructed to call Oradell Police immediately at (201) 261-0200. Authorities currently have no leads and this is an ongoing investigation.
