Authorities found the body of a missing Orange Beach, Alabama, woman on Sunday, in the same spot a man driving her car was pulled over at.
The Arkansas State Police reported that they found the remains of 23-year-old Laramie Cline at Lake Pickthorne near Jacksonville, Arkansas. Cline was last seen by her family on August 7, in Ozark, Alabama.
Authorities said that a man driving Cline’s vehicle was stopped near the area where she was found according to the New York Post. Pulaski County deputies arrested David Houston, 23, near Pinnacle Mountain in Arkansas, after questioning him about being in Cline’s car. The tip came from Alabama detectives who told Arkansas authorities that Houston may be in the area.

Arkansas Matters reports that Houston met Cline while they both lived in Orange Beach. According to Houston’s grandmother, Judith King, he moved to Orange Beach around a year ago after he went AWOL from the U.S. Army. Houston apparently told his grandmother that Cline said she wanted to move to Denver for a “new life.” He reportedly said he drove Cline there, but while on the way, Cline pulled a gun on him and he had to act in self-defense.

Houston is being held at the Pulaski County Detention Center for the Arkansas State Police, the agency handling the death. So far, Houston has been charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
Meanwhile, friends and family are mourning her death. Her mother, Kim Cline, told AL.com that her daughter kept in touch with her while on a trip to Colorado, but the worried mom sensed that something wasn’t right. Kim Cline said she recently had back surgery and her daughter, who knew about it, would typically always ask about her health.
“The last text I got was (Thursday). My son and I were talking Sunday and we just knew things weren’t right. Me and my daughter were closer than anything and with her seeming to not be concerned with my health, we just knew something wasn’t right.”
I just read about this today in local news here in Arkansas. I had wondered where the "woman from Alabama" was from. I didn't expect it to lead to my hometown. So tragic.
