Three shot and killed in Georgia triple homicide

Authorities are investigating a triple homicide that left two men and a woman dead in a condo outside of Atlanta.

The shooting occurred around 11:00 pm Tuesday night on the 5800 block of Par Four Court in Lithonia, Georgia. The three victims, believed to be in their 20s, were inside the apartment with several others when the incident took place, reports CBS 46.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses in an effort to learn exactly what happened. A suspect has not yet been identified, nor have the identities of the three victims.

A woman claiming to be the aunt of one of the men killed told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “They told us the apartment got shot up and he’s dead.”

Alicia Willis told FOX 5 her nephew was well-loved and had lots of friends.

The owner of the condo, Femi Akinwunmi, was staying in the other apartment when he heard gunshots, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“The shots rang out. Then everything was quiet,” he said.

Akinwunmi didn’t call 911 because he claimed he didn’t want anyone to hear him on the phone.

“I didn’t know what to do; I’ve never been so terrified in all my life.”

When he saw a police car on scene around 4 a.m. he left and went to a hotel.

“I discovered today I am a complete coward because I was afraid to be in the same building where people were shooting,” Akinwunmi told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Police believe the shooter is still at large and have searched the area with K-9s. They are looking for the suspect, as well as possible evidence such as the firearm used in the murders.

Police urge anyone with information to contact the DeKalb County Police or call 911.
