Eight dead after gunman opens fire at Dallas Cowboys watch party

Eight people are dead, including the gunman, in a shooting massacre in Plano, Texas, on Sunday.

CBS DFW reports that police responded to a report of gunshots at a residence on West Spring Creek Parkway Sunday evening. A responding officer found an active shooting scene and confronted the armed suspect.

“The first responding officer got there and heard gunshots coming from inside the residence so he made entry inside… he was confronting the suspect and [sic] ultimately shooting and killing him,” Plano police spokesman David Tilley told reporters Monday morning.

After the suspect was shot, police searched the home and found nine people with gunshot wounds. Only two were still alive, and they were transported to a local hospital. All of the victims and the suspects are adults.

Fox 4 reports that the people had gathered to watch a Dallas Cowboys football game. The news station interviewed four men who had just left the home to go to a bar and continue watching the game before the tragedy took place.

A witness said she saw a man and a woman arguing outside the home before the man walked into the house with a gun, opening fire.

“I seen a man argue with a woman. They were standing outside and they’re arguing,”neighbor Crystal Sugg told FOX 4.

“The woman was trying to go back in and as she was going back in the house, you seen the man pull out his gun and starting just releasing … He just started letting them go. It was an automatic. You could hear it go off multiple times, you could hear it just ring off.”

According to the news station, no officers were injured in the subsequent standoff.

Authorities have not yet released their identities of the victims or their relationships to the shooter. It is unclear how many of them lived in the home where they shooting took place.

“There’s a lot of speculation out there and we’re not gonna speculate. It’s something that we want to make sure that we now…. we don’t know if these individuals are related,” Tilley told CBS DFW.

Plano police told the news station it was the deadliest shooting they had seen in the north Texas city.
