An Austin, Texas, man was arrested in Orlando, Florida, for allegedly traveling a thousand miles to have sex with a 9-year-old girl.
The Austin American-Statesman reports that Mark Andrew Nichols, 64, is also accused of graphically explaining the sexual acts he planned to perform on the child in electronic communications. The incriminating texts and emails were intercepted by an internet crimes detective who was posing as the girl and her parents.
Orlando Police said they zeroed in on Nichols on September 13, when he responded to an online ad that officers placed as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. From there, Nichols contacted the decoy parents and said he wanted to have sex with their young child, a police report obtained by the Orlando Sentinel alleged.
In the messages, the suspect reportedly also revealed an interest in incest, calling it “an extreme turn on.”
At one point, he allegedly told the decoy father that he would love for him to watch or participate in the sexual assault of his own daughter. He also assures father that he’s a “respectful” person seeking a “fun, safe experience,” according to WKMG.
“I would like to visit you all. I am interested in having sex with [child decoy’s name] and [the child decoy’s mother’s name]. I am bi so I am open to some bi play with you if you are interested. If you are not, that is fine,” Nichols allegedly wrote to the father.
“I would maybe like to watch you have sex with [the child]. Be there. Touch and re-assure her. Then have sex with her myself. Would [the child] want to watch me with mom?”

Instead, Orlando Police arrested the 64-year-old upon his arrival to an agreed-upon location. Officers found bags of Sour Patch Kids and Skittles—a candy that the “child” requested— and personal lubricant in his car following Saturday’s arrest, the report detailed.
“We’ll never stop going after predators,” Orlando Police tweeted Monday night.
Nichols was charged with attempted sexual battery of a child under 12 years old, attempted lewd or lascivious conduct, unlawful use of a communication device, two counts of solicitation of a minor through a computer, traveling to meet a minor, and obscene communication. He was booked into the Orange County Jail, where he’s being held without bail.
