‘Neither of us had a chance growing up’: Brother of Kevin Spacey says father was a ‘Nazi’ who raped, beat, abused them

In light of recent accusations against actor Kevin Spacey involving inappropriate sexual advances against a former child actor, Daily Mail released a 2004 interview with Spacey’s brother, where he described a tumultuous childhood they endured at the hands of their “Nazi” father.

DailyMail reports that Randall Fowler, 62, may have given insight into his younger brother Spacey’s behavior. The actor came out as gay on Twitter on Sunday, in what many people called improper timing. The House of Cards star revealed his sexual orientation when accusations surfaced that he made unwanted sexual advances toward actor Anthony Rapp, who was a teen when the alleged incident took place in the 1980s.

Spacey wrote that he didn’t remember the incident and that the accusation prompted him to “address other things” about his life.

According to Fowler, their father, Thomas Geoffrey Fowler, was a racist, overbearing man who sexually abused and beat him, Spacey and younger sister, Julia. Randall Fowler described his childhood home as the “house of horrors” where their father dominated them with perverted, sadist views.

“Neither of us had a chance growing up with two such damaged parents. I went through three marriages and 40 affairs…..There was so much darkness in our home it was beyond belief. It was absolutely miserable,” Fowler told DailyMail.

Fowler explained he was just 12 years old the first time his father sexually assaulted him. He claimed that his mother, Kathleen, didn’t help stop the abuse, which he said rendered him helpless and abandoned.

“He unbuttoned my pants and started playing with me. She [Kathleen] came right up and pounded on the door but Dad had locked it and he told me to keep quiet. All of a sudden the pounding stopped. Mom had left. I’d never felt so abandoned. Dad started to perform a sex act on me. That was the beginning of my adolescence.”

According to Randall Fowler, his father joined the American Nazi Party when him and brother Spacey were just small children. Thomas Fowler had a trimmed mustache that resembled Adolph Hitler and often spoke how Jewish people “ran Hollywood and banks.” The eldest son said that the family had to sit at the dinner table and listen to their father’s beliefs on white supremacy and how he thought the Holocaust was a lie.

Fowler said Spacey tried his best to ignore his home environment and would often disconnect from everyone in the family and live in his own world.

“Kevin tried to avoid what was going on by wrapping himself in an emotional bubble. He became very sly and smart. He was so determined to try to avoid the whippings that he just minded his Ps and Qs until there was nothing inside. He had no feelings.”

Ironically, Spacey described his father as a “very normal, middle-class man, born in Caspar, Wyoming,” in a 2002 interview, according to The Independent.

So far, Spacey hasn’t commented on his brother’s account of their childhood home and father. Check back with CrimeOnline as additional details become available.
