A woman in New York City was shot Wednesday morning in what appears to be a murder-suicide attempt.
The New York Post reports that a man approached a woman returning a Citibike near Cooper Union in the East Village, shooting her in the abdomen. He then reportedly turned the gun on himself, shooting himself in the head.
Police reportedly believe the shooting is a domestic incident, and that the suspect and victim know each other.

Both the man and woman were taken to the hospital in critical condition. They have not yet been identified.
The shooting took place just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday. A witness who saw the attack, Jerry Simo, described a chilling scene to DNAInfo.
“He didn’t say a word. He shot her in the chest both times. It was point-blank range. Her feet went into the air and she hit the floor,” Simo told the news outlet.
“Then he put the gun under his chin and finished himself.
The murder suicide attempt comes a day after a suspected terrorist plowed a truck into a bike path in Lower Manhattan, killing eight people.
