‘Veronica Mars’ actor Brad Bufanda dies by jumping off a building at age 34

Brad Bufanda, known for playing Felix Toombs on the first two seasons of Veronica Mars, died early Wednesday after jumping off a Los Angeles building, police said.

According to TMZ, a transient discovered Bufanda, 34, at around 1 a.m. Wednesday. Law enforcement reportedly located a suicide note near his body in which he named his parents and thanked the people in his life.

Bufanda’s manager, Kirsten Solem, confirmed the actor’s death Friday to Page Six.

“We are completely devastated for he was an extremely talented young actor and wonderful, caring human being. He was reviving his career, having just completed two movies, and we are shocked and saddened by his passing. The family would appreciate privacy at this difficult time,” she told the tabloid.

Screen Rant reported that Bufanda made a series of posts to social media in 2012 that caused concern. He reportedly shared a picture of his emaciated body with the caption “Too pretty for Hollywood.” He went on to explain that he was copying Christian Bale’s role in The Machinist. The same year, he posted a picture of two royalty checks for $1.62 and $38.91 with the caption “F**k Hollywood.”

Despite this, Solem told TMZ that Bufanda’s death came as a shock as the actor didn’t have substance abuse issues and never showed signs of being in emotional distress.

In addition to Veronica Mars, Bufanda had roles on Malcolm in the Middle, Days of Our Lives, Roseanne, and A Cinderella Story.

Veronica Mars producer Rob Thomas tweeted Friday afternoon, “I’m heartbroken to hear of Brad Bufanda’s passing. He did great work on Veronica Mars. My heart goes out to his family.”
