Five dead, two children still hospitalized in elementary school shooting in California

Police are investigating up to seven shooting sites and say there could be more victims


Five people are confirmed dead in the shooting in Rancho Tehama Tuesday morning, including the gunman. And two elementary school children are being treated for injuries.

The latest update comes from local news site Redding Searchlight. According to the report, police are investigating up to seven separate shooting sites and believe there could be more victims.


At least three people have been killed at a school shooting in California on Tuesday.

The Sacramento Bee reports that the shooting began at a residence in Rancho Tehama, then moved to an elementary school.

The assistant sheriff told Action News Now that “a number of students” were transported to the hospital following the gunfire at the school, and that the shooter was killed by police.

The identities of the victims are not yet known.

A resident told Action News Now that he believes the suspect is the same person, a man he called “Kevin,” who shot and killed his roommate Tuesday morning. Police have not released the identity of the shooter.
