A Tennessee father was jailed Wednesday morning for allegedly raping and killing his 9-month-old daughter.
In a statement, Clarksville police said that they arrested Christopher Paul Conway, 22, after homicide detectives determined that the infant was sexually assaulted and strangled with a cord, which resulted in her death. Police claimed they later learned that Conway had carried out those acts.
Officers reportedly responded to a CPR in progress call at around 7:19 a.m. on Tuesday. It was then that the unresponsive 9-month-old was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead at around 8:00 a.m., according to police.
The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle reports that a Facebook page appearing to belong to Conway indicates he is an Army combat medic from Grand Bay, Alabama, and is the married father of twin girls.
