The cult leader was rushed to a hospital in Bakersfield, CA last week. He was described as motionless, pale, and covered in blankets.
Manson masterminded the murderous rampage in Los Angeles in August 1969 that took the lives of pregnant actress Sharon Tate, Abigail Folger, Wojciech Frykowski, Leno and Rosemary LaBianca, Steven Parent, and Jay Sebring.
Manson has spent the past 46 years in prison.
TMZ reports that Sharon Tate’s sister Debra received a phone call Sunday night confirming Manson’s death.
California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed the news late Sunday.
“Inmate Charles Manson, 83, died of natural causes at 8:13 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at a Kern County hospital,” the CDCR said in a statement.
