Authorities in New York are looking for answers after a property manager reportedly found four dead bodies in an apartment this week.
According to the Times Union Troy police were notified Tuesday afternoon of multiple unconscious people at a residence. Reports indicate they were all inside a basement apartment at the location.
Troy Police Capt. Daniel DeWolf provided few details in an update to local reporters.
“The deaths appear suspicious,” he said.
He declined to identify the deceased or reveal whether any weapons were recovered at the scene. Police reportedly have not confirmed an estimated time of death.
DeWolf called the incident “horrible, terrible, sad,” compounded by the fact that it occurred during the holiday season.
Police have reportedly made attempts to notify the deceased individuals’ relatives. As of the latest reports available, no arrests have been made in connection with the deaths.
Neighbors describe the community as generally quiet. One resident recalled hearing sirens outside on Tuesday and seeing officers establish a crime scene, which included police tape and traffic barricades.
State authorities have joined local police in the investigation. Rob Appleton, a lieutenant with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, offered a broad update on the investigation Tuesday afternoon.
State Police Lt. Rob Appleton of Troop G Bureau of Criminal Investigation says Troy has asked for the State Police's assistance after city cops found 4 bodies in a #TroyNY home. Details may be sparse until police fully assess the scene, he said: "Things are unfolding right now."
