New York police have identified, though not named, the victims of a horrific quadruple murder, as reported by NY Daily News.
The slayings occurred Tuesday in a small town along the Hudson River and authorities have noted that the victims were two women and two children. Investigators have stated that the two women were 36 and 22 years old and involved in a romantic relationship. The former’s 11-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter were also among the dead, according to CBS News.
Troy police chief James Tedesco stressed the sheer brutality of the crimes during a press conference he gave Wednesday afternoon.
“After being in this business for almost 42 years, I can’t describe the savagery of this,” he said. “I don’t have the word.”
“The emotions of a police officer is something you repress because there is a job to be done, but no one involved in this case is ever going to forget it.”
Tedesco also suggested that this was not a random act of violence and that the suspect or suspects could have known the victims.
“Certain factors we uncovered during the investigation leads us to believe this is not a random act,” he said. “Only a person of savagery would do something like this.”
The bodies were discovered by a property manager in the basement of an apartment building, as previously reported by CrimeOnline.

Troy Police Capt. Daniel DeWolf called the murders “horrible, terrible, sad” and made note that the tragedy was compounded by occurring near Christmas.
Though they have yet to make any arrests, Tedesco said that the full force of the police department will be employed against the suspect or suspects.
“This will be a full-court press, if you will, until we bring someone to justice,” he said.
This is an ongoing investigation and neither method of murder or possible motive have been announced.
Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact the Troy Police Department.
