A Tennessee teen was killed in a shooting this week and an even younger girl is facing charges related to her death.
According to WSMV, a 12-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of criminal homicide after allegedly shooting 16-year-old Bentrice Wilson in a Madison apartment early Sunday morning.
Authorities responded to the residence around 3:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting at the location. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wilson and the suspect were among a group of girls believed to have left the apartment without permission during the night. While roaming the neighborhood allegedly searching for unlocked vehicles, police say they found a loaded handgun in one of the cars.
The girls allegedly stole the semi-automatic pistol and brought it back to Falcon View Apartments, where the shooting took place.
As WZTV reported, the shooting occurred in an apartment reportedly being rented by the suspect’s grandmother.
Fox News cited local media reports, which indicated the suspect was handling the firearm in the apartment and pointing it at the other girls.
Nashville police confirmed the arrest and charges, but did not identify the suspect.
